If the buyer is satisfied with the merchandise, the payment is then forwarded to the seller. If the buyer is not satisfied, he or she returns the merchandise to the seller, and the payment is returned to the buyer when the seller has received the returned merchandise.

There is normally a small fee associated with an escrow service, either a flat dollar amount or a percentage of the sale. A seller may choose to pass this fee off to the buyer, or he may choose to absorb the cost himself. This particular seller has indicated that the buyer is to pay the escrow fee.
