6. SugarpushThe Sugarpush is one of the core basic figures in West Coast Swing, considered by many to be the most basic repeatable pattern. It is a 6-count figure, danced in open facing position, and characterized by the "paddle-ball" quality of the lady moving in close to the man, then being "pushed" away to an extended position.
There can be many variations on timing, however the basic 6-count pattern of 1,2, 3a4, 5a6 is considered the most common and fundamental. |
