19. Open Telemark

The word Open in Open Telemark refers to the dance position, an indication that the man "opens" up to promenade position. The figure begins, as does the Closed Telemark, with the man facing diagonal center and leading the lady to take a reverse heel turn. The transition to promenade position takes place between the second and third steps, and the couple can follow with any figure that can begin moving toward diagonal wall in promenade position, such as a Chasse from PP (fig. 6), Cross Hesitation (fig. 21), or Wing (fig. 22).
