3c. Stationary Samba Walks
The name says it all... A Stationary Samba Walk is one that remains in place. The reason: Partners dance this version of the Samba Walk facing each other.
All other Samba Walks travel forward, a result of the difference between the distance traveled on the first step, the forward walk, and the "slip" action on the third step. Since the former is much greater than the latter, the end result is forward progression. However, with the Stationary Samba Walk, the forward progression is equal to the small backward movement of the slip, and so the net result is no travel in any direction.
