| impetus | The driving force behind a movement or rotation. | | inside foot | The foot which is closer to the partner when in Promenade, Outside Partner, or Side-by-Side Position. | | inside underarm turn | An underarm turn in which the lady turns to the left under the right hand, or to the right under the left hand. | | instep | The part of the foot which is on the inside edge, between the ball and the heel. | | International style | The internationally recognized style of ballroom dancing. The 10 International dances are divided into two groups:
(1) International Standard (Modern), consisting of Slow Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, and Quickstep.
