I'm trying to find good contemporary popular songs that are waltzes. There are a few that I know of such as Journey's "Open Arms", Dan Fogelberg's "Run for the Roses", The Commodore's "Still (AKA Three Times a Lady)". I don't know of too many recent ones. I would like to compile a selection to play for dance parties, etc. Any suggestions?
Faith Hill - Cry Edwin McCain - I'll Be (v. waltz) Anita Baker - Body and Soul Simply Red - If You Don't Know Me By Now Enya - Wild Child Theme From Cider House Rules Elton John - True Love Eagles - Take it to the Limit
A few country: Travis Tritt - Drift off to Dream Clint Black - When I Said I Do Deana Carter - Strawberry Wine (v. waltz)
Seal - Kiss from a Rose Aretha Franklin - A natural Woman Elvis - Are you lonely tonight Carpenters - Rainbow Connection Dave Matthews Band - Satttelite (sort of a waltz) Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes - If you don't know me by now
Nocturne from Secret garden is lovely. I like melancholy music though. My absolute favourites are the first two songs on "Best of Ballroom 11" (Casa Musica i think). Dark waltz and "greenwaves" (this is also secret garden). How could anyone not dance wekk to that lovely solo violin? Unfortunately, if you listen to the segment of "greenwaves" on this site, it only goes to the end of the introduction. After this intro, the music develops into something gorgeous.
Phil. have you heard " She moves through the Fair" . by Boyzone. It has a real Irish flavour about it. Best of Ballroom Music Part 12. On the same disk a song called The Magic of Love by Lionel Richie and Russel Watson is a beauty, but a bit hard to dance to timing wise. Secret Garden is on there too.
Stephen Speaks - Out of My League (v. waltz) Lifehouse - You and Me Audrey Hepburn (or any of the million covers) - Moon River Whichever artist you prefer - Someday My Prince Will Come Nickelback - Hero
