Heck no. I took a basic ballroom class earlier this year- you'll be fine! Don't listen to these mean dancers- just go for it!

Jesse DeSoto started ballroom dancing at 19 and has many titles to his name plus a couple of world titles. Also, he was on the second season of Dancing With The Stars.

Finding a partner who is dedicated to this high goal is hard. I would say while you are searching go up through the Pro/Am ranks. This way you can kill 2 birds with one stone. You will get known AND you can scope out a potential partner. Nothing is impossible if your money and body can hold out.

You said you have no experience in ballroom dancing. Try it first. You dont need a partner to get started. Find a good quality studio, take group lessons, if you still like it take private lessons and do pro-am competitions. If you still like it, find a partner at that point. You may be very talented and learn very fast especially as you know other dances. You probably have good balance, flexibility and posture, but what you are suggesting is equivalent to without getting your foot wet to set a goal as a swimming champion.
