I agree with Craig, not all dance music has to be 'correct'. In fact, one of the greatest hurdles to getting people to try ballroom dancing, is that they think the music is old fashioned, too orchestrated and of no interest to them. That's why so many go for salsa. When we explain to beginners that there is alot of modern music that can be danced to, they are always extremely surprised. They never guessed that most of lady Gaga is a cha cha or 'Soul Sister' is a fantastic quickstep. So there are no vocals at Blackpool, there are at other major competitons. In fact, I did a slow fox once to a rendition of 'Eye of the Tiger'. Bizarre but doable.

Not to be picky but my name is Terri and am female. A lot of people think I am a guy but "craigue" is my last name and "rabbitry" is because we had one. The name is actually my email handle.
Enough of that...
I bet you had great fun out dancing even to "Eye of the Tiger"!! Personally I am all for the Fun in dancing so lets all enjoy in our own way and to what ever music we have available to work with.

Hi, Terri, sorry about that. There aren't many regular women contributers on this site. I have been around for awhile as has 'belleofyourball'.

Not bad, just a few thing grate: Amy Winehouse, not Whinehouse . Apart from that, no-one is to deny you setting up any list you like, ignore the haters.

Oh gosh I knew that too! Dang, well that's just one of those typos that are hard for me to spot. I'll fix it, thanks.

It seemed to start around 2000, with tracks like "Sing It Back" by
Moloko and "Lady" by some guys I can't remember. Sort of like taking
four bars from a 70's disco or funk track and repeating them
continuously for 3-5 minutes, occasionally stuck through a moog filter
or something. Occasionally you hear a nice little melody, then the
realisation dawns that it's simply been sampled from a lesser known
disco track.

Is there a way to offer you suggestions for your blog directly?

In the form of comments yes, if you post a comment under one of the playlists and I agree that the songs do work, i will add them. I do have the comments moderated, I don't want it to turn into youtube with all kinds of smut posted, but relevant and helpful posts I always allow through.

Craig. All of the instructional videos on this site have the correct footwork, posture, alignments dancing in time and so on. So what are you doing here. I would say this is a strictly Ballroom Dance Site where dancers do not want to do heels when they should be toes, and toes when they should be heels. I must add that I am very impressed with the instructions that I have just been viewing. They are first class.
