Gave it my best shot, even tried Pandora and Sound Hound with no luck. Neither the arrangement nor the song itself sounds familiar. It could be something from one of the well-known ballroom music producers, such as Casa Musica, WRD, Prandi, Dancelife, etc -- their stuff rarely registers with music ID services. Or it might just be someone individual musician's arrangement.

Sorry I couldn't help more!

Regards,
Jonathan

It sounds very much like Edmundo Ros ...( or, a BBC band attempting to play mambo ). No self respecting latino, would EVER call that a Mambo .

It's a Mambo—in the sense that "Mambo Italiano" or "Papa Loves Mambo" is a Mambo. It is possible to dance a Mambo to its rhythm. It just isn't a very good one.

I do understand, to some degree, why people choose these types of songs for "routines "/ comps etc. ; the general audiences at comps/recitals, are more familiar with the pop genre , and back when, the availability of authentic latin, was not as easy to come by as it is in todays world.

I also believe its worth noting that, the Prof. ranks music, has improved immensely in recent times .

Definitely not Puente..and, as to what one would/could dance to the song, is a matter of choice. Tho why anyone would choose that, with literally 1000s of songs from which to choose ,from the Mambo era .... just sayin...

Cugat also is a poss.
