Apologies to Jonathan and all others. I didn't really intend to say all gentlemen's backward traveling steps involve foot rise. Obviously some steps, such as the weave, do not involve foot rise for obvious reasons. My point was that were the Lady to do the same steps as the man which involve foot rise (such as the Gentleman's reverse wave), she is not required to rise and fall, as she is already "up" blah blah blah...
Anyway.. ) Enjoy dancing.
