phil.samways -- Yes, yoga classes really rely on the instructor, just like a dance class. I would make sure it is a fitness yoga class. Once you try that, you may find the advanced class more to your liking. I know it cured back and foot pain problems for me after about a year of participating. I have been in fitness yoga for several years now, and most recently have been missing my sessions because of, you guessed it, I am working extra jobs to keep head above water during this weak economy. Still, with the right circumstances, I would recommend it to anyone. The original poster complained of pain in the balls of her feet -- and that's a tough one, because you use those a lot in fitness yoga and ballroom dancing. I noticed just stronger ankles, feet and legs in general in doing yoga. My foot pain tended to be more along the top of the foot. And, over time, like the lower back pain, it all pretty much disappeared. And I'm 55 years old and feeling pretty good about those pains diminishing. They will lurk again, I am sure, over the next couple of decades if, God willing, I'm still banging around.
