Some comments on the 2004 World Amateure Standard shown on Fox last night which might help some people given by Muchael Barr. The esscence of the Modern Waltz is the powerfull swing
and the big sway. In Tango too wide a posture to be avoided. V. Waltz over extension of the head is very damaging in this dance. There were many comments about the head position in all dances by the ladies. The broken neck line ( that is the head too far back ) causes obvious tension and a balance problem. And if anyone thinks there is no sway going into a Spin Turn in the Quickstep they had better look at what I am looking at.

What country did you see this in? I'm in the USA and Fox didn't run any ballroom dancing last night according to the TV listings page. Did I miss it or are you in Australia or something?
