Cool!!

I know what you mean about some songs being so slow as to be nearly undanceable!

Aside from a lot of the standard fave moves (and I also love to improvise moves as well), I love doing a two-handed continuous turn with a good partner. Some women catch onto it real easy, others don't, but that's OK. Here's the description:

Two Hand Continuous Turn (or Touch and Go):

On the "touch and go" the leader holds the girl's right hand with his right and the girls' left with his left. Right hands are placed over left hands. This is the initial position. After that, the leader turns the girl clockwise by lifting both hands. When girl has turned half way, the left hand is released to allow her to go all the way around. When girl has turned a full 360, the left hands touch momentarily as though to give her momentum for the next turn. Thus "touch and go". On the last turn the left hands reconnect at the end. Final position -> left hands over right hands.

A few fave hustle tunes for me (and there's soooooo many) :

More More More, Love At First Sight: Kylie Minogue

You've Got The Power: WAR

I've Got The Next Dance: Deniece Williams

Vertigo/Relight My Fire: Dan Hartman

A Deeper Love: Aretha Franklin

A Different Kind of Love Song: Cher

Murder On the Dancefloor: Sophie Ellis Bextor

a fair amount of House music is great to hustle to as well

Phil Owl:

I'm one who loves the hustle . . .

Almost any straight beat song is good for me to hustle - except if they are too slow. I remember that my wife and I showed upat a place where they mainly do WCS and Hustle . . . and as soon as we had put our dance shoes on, the DJ announced that a Hustle was next. WE said, "oh well, It was kinda fast to warm up on, but let's do it." To make a long story short, we found out that we were in the finals -it was a Hustle contest. I said, "cool." We went for the final dance, and it agonizingly slow. I could harldy stay on . . . but we did win!

MOst of the common moves are my favorites, yet I like to wing it from time-to-time and try to make up a move as I go.

Anywhere there is Hustle-like music is where we'll do it. No favorite place in particular.

I love hustle! I like Crush, That song by Kylie that goes, "na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na" and I can't even think of them all. The music is great, and I love the constant motion and turning and back and forth of it.

I think that song you refer to is "Can't Get You Out of My Head"

I'm out there!!!

At the time I started dancing, the hustle and discos were the rave. I took off with it - practiced 7 days/week. Well, that was 20+ years ago, and it's still my favorite.

I don't have any extreme favorite move, but to follow I like rope spins best. To lead, there's this move I do which is really a compilation of a few steps. Someone unofficially named it bow and arrow because that's what the arms resemble when the man pivot turns. It starts out with lady's inside turn, followed by man's pivot turn with sliding arms, followed by sliding door, followed by a wrap spin for the lady.

Favorite spot to dance? I'll be a smarty and say the dance floor (please forgive me - I like humor in my life).

Favorite songs (Phil Owl is so right - soooooo many):

Romeo and Juliet by Alex Constandinos (sp?) I tried to find this on CD but discovered it's out of print. I have it on vinyl; I guess I'll have to burn it myself.

The Break by Kat Mandu (instrumental)

And too many more to mention...

Regards,
Hoofer

I am going to be in a show soon. I cant wait! i kn ow what you mean about people going slow! My partner and i go fast but most of the time i go to fast!
When i dance with other people i sometimes ask if they know how to go fast. My song that i am dancing to is
"keep on dancing" by gwen s.and i also like the old disco songs to.

I was born in the 70's and always thought disco music was cheesy until I got into ballroom dancing. My bias against disco kept from learning hustle for the first few months, but once I got into it, I soon realized how addictive it was. Any song with a good down beat, and I'll hustle. I don't care what everyone else is doing on the dance floor. I was at a latin club recently where they played this techno sounding latin song, and I totally starting hustling to it.

My favorite hustle is the It's My Life remake by No Doubt.

Hustle is a personal favorite of ours too. We use it as our blowing-off steam dance when we get really frustrated at another dance we're working on. Hustle is our "can't fail, anything goes, just dance to the feel of the music" dance.

We dance mostly Latin Hustle, btw, but on occasion we'll do the New York.

Favorite songs...usually the old standby songs. Fifth of Beethoven is a personal fav, as well as Night Fever and Disco Inferno.
