14. Rock to Promenade
Fact Sheet
Official Name:Rock to Promenade
Dance / Level:Intermediate Bronze American Style Tango
Aliases:Left-Turning Rock to Promenade Position, Turning Rock Tango Close
Suggested
Prerequisites:
None

The Rock to Promenade is a type of Tango Close to Promenade where the man turns 1/4 to his left on the last step to end in promenade position.

The figure begins with two Tango Walks, which when followed by the Rock to promenade action form a simple 8-count phrase. However, almost any figure could be danced in place of the two walks, so long as the alignments permit, and the resulting timing adheres to Tango's strong 8-count phrases. For example:

Begin in promenade position, prepared to move diagonal center. (1) Dance an Open Promenade, ended facing diagonal center, SQQS, (2) Dance steps 3-5 of Rock to Promenade, QQS, (3) Dance a Closed Promenade toward diagonal wall, ended with man facing wall, SQQS.
