1-3 of a normal reverse turn, then
Heel (-flat) on the left
Heel toe on the right
toe heel on the left.
Then a normal impetus (or continue into a back feather)

Chez. The Reverse Wave starts fom a Reverse Turn. Then a man's Three Step It can be followed by the lady after the Three Step following it with a Feather Step. If you like you can keep going with the Three Step and so on all the way around from side one to two and into side three.
If you start from a Natural, The way I was taught,The first three of a Natural Turn. Then the Feather then the Three Step and so on. It has a nice feeling about it if you change from the left side leading to a slight right side leading on the Three Step and so on.
In short the lady is doing the man's Feather and Three Step with the same footwork that the man uses. Remember the person in front takes the straight line meaning the person going backwards is the one that allows the other to dance the straghtish line.

Acutally you both maintain the line of travel once you learn to dance well - the movement is accomodated by the shapes alone, there is no need for the backwards person to detour out of the others way!!!

Anonymous. Both cannot travel on the same line. The lady must be able to step outside exactly as the man does on a Feather Step. On the Wave the man must not block the ladies path.Just as the lady must not on the ordinary Feather Step where the man is on the outside of the lady.
Desciption of the Feather Step.
RF forward turning body to the right.
LF forward preparing to step outside partner.
RF forward outside partner
LF in line with partner
Follow this with a Three Step all in line.
Now you tell me how can the lady be expected to step outside if the man holds the same line. Or the other way around if it is a Feather Step with the man in front. The person going backwards always gives way to the person going forward.
