hey, there's that move that persons do in the samba from the batucada. (their legs move really fast). can anyone point me in the right direction in finding out where i can learn it (or maybe if someone here can tell me) i would REEEEEAAALLLY appreciate it

i think i know the figure you mean but i am not sure what it's called or even if it has a name - a backward moving one, right ? - perhaps you could expand a little bit.

Yep, same question here. I've only heard it spoken aloud and with an accent that might prevent me from understanding the proper spelling or enunciation.

It can go fast and/or slow and there is a see-saw movement to it with one foot moving backwards than forwards with no weight replacement and than back again with weight change and than the next foot. In fast mode you can't really tell that it seesaws.

I'm having a hard time with it too...

so....anyone?????

i wish someone would write a glossary/technical description of figures like this. there are so many figures i do but dont even have names for.

They did.... many yrs ago.. Several as a matter of fact, Walter laird to name but one.. there are also numerous videos from Bronze thru Gold.

Go to IDTA website and check their offerings..( Len of SCD has some vids out )

Geoff Hearne's book is excellent, but a ballroom book, but asfar as I can see, there is nothing comparable for latin that covers competitive latin figs like the "batucadas" (??)

Batucadas is a Brazilian thing, In the their Fstivals on a small float you will see various examples of Batucadas.
But used in the International Style they are performed with a particular Technique
