I've always wondered what constitutes "good character" to some of these meat-market procurers.

Does "good character" mean "no outstanding warrants for murder"? Does that mean that you can't drag a dead body onto the ship for mid-cruise disposal?

I find it strange that "dougbeards" provides nothing but an email address.

Are guys really so desperate for these cruise positions that they'd respond to a solicitation such as this one?

Ahh, the lure of that 90 year old widow who will leave you her country estate after you have waltzed her round the floor!

Looks like a couple of guys told their wife it was a fishing trip and have been found out (I assume it is men they need, and no mention of what dances will be done, size of floor etc.(see the cruise ship post on this site) or duration of cruise).

I have seen the adverts in the paper, and have been told that any sign of making the dance "progressive" you are asked to leave the ship (sometimes when it is between ports if you are really bad!).

I can't account for what you have heard, but your rendition of what takes place seems to be based in a bad movie script rather than reality. What is the difference of going to a USA Dance to enjoy the socialization with persons with like interest in dancing and going on a cruise with people with like interest in dancing? This website is here to promote ballroom dancing and I am really surprised at your negative view of a wonderful venu to promote ballroom dancing that is enjoyed by thousands of ballroom enthusiasts every year. I would hope you would do a bit more research in to the legitimate travel industry which does wonders to promote ballroom dancing.

Wow. You must have had a bad experience somewhere. People of good character don't need to have it defined. Social dance is based on good character. It's an opportunity to socialize with others for the sake of socializing with no alterior motives whether you're on a cruise ship or your local USA Dance club. I think these negative comments are an insult to ballroom dancers everywhere. A dance host provides a great social experience for the persons on the cruise and in exchange, gets a really nice cruise. I'm really taken aback by the negative comments about this. Anyway, I provide just an email because it's the easiest way for me to communicate and when I respond to an email it includes name, address, and phone number.
