Some saved Quick Time files

I had a few of the dance videos saved on my desktop for future reference, and they were the QuickTime files of the various dance steps. They worked for the past few years, and were excellent for quick referral.
Now, all of the sudden, none of those files work. Is there any way to correct that, or does it have to do with no Quick Time files being used on the site any longer? I would like to replace them somehow and have a few files saved on my computer. Is this possible any longer with the Adobe Flash setup?
Thanks.
Does anyone else have suggestions for ways to save video files off this site or other sites?

I had someone recently complain that their Variation CD -- the one we produced in 2000 -- no longer works. So my guess is, Quicktime has recently dropped support for some older codecs. That would explain why you can no longer view those videos.

We ourselves have recently upgraded all of our videos to the new H.264 format, which can be played both by Quicktime and Flash. Not only is the quality better, but it gives us insurance against the current battle between Flash and HTML5... Regardless of whoever comes out the winner, our video clips will work.

I'm working on an Android/iPhone app to give our users quick access to the video clips while on the go. As far as computers go, however, you will need to be connected to the internet to view them. For quick referral, I suggest bookmarking pages containing the patterns that interest you.

Please be sensitive to the fact that the upcoming premium membership service will be our primary source of income. Although I try my best to be extremely conservative in moderating this message board, I will remove any messages containing suggestions regarding the unauthorized saving of video clips. I appreciate your understanding.

Sincerely,
Jonathan Atkinson

Thanks Jonathan,
That makes sense to me.
The site has the videos well organized any way, and I usually was giving the videos a quick glance prior to teaching a step or brushing up on something myself.
So it takes a minute or two more to get on the site and look, rather than having them in a folder on my desktop ... no big deal.
Seems odd, though, how Quicktime could suddenly no longer support old files. A software program usually has ways to continue to see older files, even with the upgrades.
Things are happening so fast in the digital world these days, it wouldn't surprise me if the files all of the sudden worked again someday!
Keep up the good work. The site gets better all of the time, and I look forward to the coming videos.
I'm not sure what you are thinking in terms of a premium membership, but hopefully I will be able to support it. Work is very thin now and income flow is a trickle, but hopefully that will get better as well.

Try using a different video player program such as VLC to view the old content
