GUEST ARTISTS NEEDED
FOR
The World of Competitive Ballroom Dance
DANCE EDUCATION PROJECT


For the 2011-2012 school year, the Dance Department at the OCVTS Performing Arts Academy,
located in Lakehurst, New Jersey,
is focusing on The World of Competitive Ballroom Dance as the theme for their annual dance education project.
Four local guest artists are needed between November 2011 to March 2012 to educate high school dance majors in the genre of Competitive Ballroom (International Standard, International Latin, American Smooth and/or American Rhythm) and willing to link technique and expression by compiling a dance piece, which incorporates A Competitive Ballroom Styles and Form into a group dance with your personal choreographic choices to be performed in their Spring Dance Concert.
The Dance Department is searching for Guest Artists who are dance educators capable of providing the students with an education in the history, experiences, and styles within the genre of Competitive Ballroom.

GUEST ARTIST CLASS SCHEDULE:
Guest Artists are required to teach a total of 5 school days, as well as teach a 4-hour choreography session after school. The Class Schedule includes four one-hour and five-minute classes each day.
The following is the schedule of classes:
7:45am 9:00am Junior Dance Majors (13 girlsages 16-17)
9:05am 10:20am Senior Dance Majors (10 girlsages 17-18)
10:20am 11:00am Lunch Break
11:00am 12:15pm Sophomore Dance Majors (14 girls.ages 15-16)
12:20pm 1:40pm Freshmen Dance Majors (18 girls and 1 boy ages 14-15)
**The levels of education in Technique progress from freshmen year to senior year.
CHOREOGRAPHY SESSION:
The 4-hour choreography session occurs after school or on Saturdays. One grade will be chosen prior to the Guest Artists arrival to complete the piece. The choreography will be performed in the Spring Dance Concert on Friday, May 11th, 2011 as part of the The Musical Theatre Dance project.
GUEST ARTIST PAY:
Our districts pay for Guest Artists is $275.00 per day for 5 days
$250.00 for the 4-hour choreography session, before taxes
