Luv2dance. Yes step 5 is wrong. I think he may have counted the preperation step. I don't think anybody past an absolute beginner uses the full Quarter Turns. That is the Quarter Turn to the Right. Followed by the Quarter Turn to the Left which has the Heel Pull. I have never even run across it in a medal class. But that is here and not there. We always followed the Quarter Turn with a Progressive Chasse.

Hi Don,
Quite true. Today very few teachers teach the Quarter Turn to Left preceded by a Quarter Turn to Right. That doesn't mean to say that the figure is obsolete. On my travels, I've seen the Quarter Turn to Left (called a Heel Pivot) danced preceded by a Quick Open Reverse Turn. It could still be used if the dancer wanted to follow the Quarter Turn to Right with a Reverse Figure (Running Cross Chasse or Change of Direction)

Luv2dance. I like to follow a Spin Turn with a Progressive Chasse to the centre. I particularly like the 3 slows into a Quick Open Reverse with a Chasse Finish. I am getting to a point of interest. Untill I had a look at the book I always as I did here, call the end piece as a Chasse Finish. I know now it is actually a Progresive Chasse. I think I have been trying to do an alignement which would be best suited in a Feather Finish with the slight adjustments..So we live and learn.

The heel pivot is a usefull figure, but it has been relegated to the appendix by some revisionist at the ISTD. An option more in their current favor would be the QOR followed by the reverse (ball) pivot. At any rate, it's usefull to understand the difference between the two actions.
