Feather Finish

Feather steps.. is that the same as Feather Finish?

No.

Originally I requested information on Feather steps, but someone else reminded me that it was called "Feather Finish". Is that the same? If not, could someone explain the Feather Finish.

I am pretty sure you know the open reverse turn as in American style waltz. Feather finish is the same as steps 4-5-6 of open reverse turn. For man it will dance as RF back (slow), LF to the side (quick), RF forward (quick) dancin outside partner. In American style when you do continuity ending, the second part of it (4-5-6) is actually Internation style Feather Finish.

The Feather-step consists of a slow step followed by a type of Three-step in which the man steps outside the lady on the second quick step.(note: a slow step followed by two quick steps). The rise is also taken earlier.

It can be taken along the LOD, diagonally to the center of the dance floor or diagonally to the wall.

Step 1. RF forward, turning body slightly to R, tempo slow
Step 2. LF forward, preparing to step outside partner with left shoulder lead, tempo quick
Step 3. Rf forward, steping outside partner, tempo quick, CBMP on step 3
Step 4. LF forward, in tempo slow, in line with partner, CBM. This step 4 is for a man to continue dance/lead the lady into the next step such as Three step or Reverse Wave or Change of direction (at a corner of a dance floor) or any reverse figure.

Hey, there are many types of Feather you may want to know either:
- Feather
- Feather Finish
- Curved Feather
- Back Feather
- Hover Feather
- ...
But, I suggest that you'd rather ask your teacher directly than search the details over the Internet. It would lead to, if you were not experienced, the misunderstanding that they are the same things, oh I hope not.

Best regards,
