Sorry, just wanted to clarify my first sentence, your learning partner does not have to be the experienced dancer who shows you what is wrong and right, you just need someone who is willing to learn with you. The experienced person would I hope be the class leader!

An instructional DVD that I bought in Buenos Aires is "This Is The Way To Dance Tango, Volume 1." The instructors are Osvaldo Zotto and Mora Godot. The video is in both English and Spanish (Asi Se Baila El Tango), and possibly other languages. I'm not sure whether people who are more expert than I am would call it old style or new style, but it seems pretty good for a beginner. 95 minutes, 21 patterns. It has Sony Music and Columbia listed on the label (along with www.tangocity.com), so it may be available in the United States. Copyright date 2004, and the number listed on the label and the box's spine is 9-202004. Also listed as NTSC All Region.

Today, I just stumbled upon a website giving free dance lessons on Argentine tango. And the dancers, whoaa, you won't believe it! Corky Ballas, a world champion in latin dance, and his partner, Kristina, a finalist in latin dance competition. I know you will be interested so, please check it out, and take it from there.

There is NOTHING of tango movement in any step either of them take. He leads nothing, and she isn't following. I've never seen ANYTHING like her 'cross and step back' action. It's wonderful. I'm going to watch it again.

Didn't tell there are other A/T instructors there because he/she will surely find out! He/She wants to learn the A/T dance, therefore, it's all up to him/her to decide. If he/she likes what he/she saw, problem solved. If not, so be it, and continue looking!

Lastly, my suggestion to S-O-D: Please go to Ebay.com, where you will find A/T dance dvds from Argentina selling for as low at $15.00 plus s&h. It's where A/T dance was born and the DIs are world class! Been a member of Ebay for years where I bought a lot of ballroom dance dvds for me and my wife to practice and ultimately learned sans going to any ballroom dance class and saved a fortune!
Also, bought from Ebay Juan Carlos Copes' A/T dvd years back and it's excellent! Mr. Copes, is the
"maestro", the father of A/T! He received numerous awards as an A/T dancer. But again, I am afraid you may critique by saying Mr. Copes A/T dance steps are old! However, my question is: Is not A/T dance itself, old too? If I am not wrong, it was danced by the "gauchos" at the bars, salons and alleys of Buenos Aires centuries ago, where it was banned because it was very seductive! It was only either in the mid-40s or mid-50s that it spread throughout Europe and, finally, to the USA, right?
