A couple of good "new" songs are: just about anything by GoTan Project - Santa Maria Del Buen Ayre, Vuelvo Al Sur, Last Tango in Paris, El Capitalismo Foraneo. Narco Tango is another excellent group, my favorite is called Otra Luna. There's also the song from Mr. & Mrs. Smith by John Powell- Assasin's Tango. If you want something... softer, go with Josh Groban - Alejate and My Confession. Hope that helps, message me if you have problems finding the songs.

The Mr. and Mrs Smith soundtrack is great- there's an awesome rumba on there too. For the instrumental of El Tango de Roxanne, I don't remember the name of the cd, but they have it on www.danceshopper.com and you can listen before you buy.

The version isn't quite the same on danceshopper. There is no acoustic guitar and the whole feel of the piece isn't the same as the original version.
I've been trying to find it for gymnastics competition music and I can't find it anywhere!

Is there an instrumental version of "El Tango de Roxanne"? The original was a song by The Police, but in reggae rhythm, and the version that appears in the film, Moulin Rouge, certainly isn't instrumental - it makes a very dramatic tango, but if you hadn't seen the film, you would find the vocal treatment rather odd!

Incidentally, there IS a good danceable version on a CD published by the BBC as a spinoff from Strictly Come Dancing, sung (very successfully) by Tommy Blaize. It can be bought from Amazon for less than £5, and is one of the best value dance disks currently available (even if one or two of the tracks are not quite so good - notably those sung by octogenarian Bruce Forsyth).

Anybody wanting to see and listen to from the film Moulin Rogue just Google El Tango De Roxanne.

Its a wonderful film, and the "Roxanne" tango sequence is very cleverly done - but I don't think that I would want to dance to the soundtrack!

There's an interesting article about the song "Roxanne" and its different versions on wikipedia. As Polished says, there is a clip from the film 'Moulin Rouge' on You Tube, and you can find the original song by 'The Police' there too.

One of the versions mentioned in the wikipedia article has the title "Tanguera" by Mariano Mores, and can be downloaded from iTunes (30 second preview clip available). It's good - I wonder whether THIS is the instrumental version mentioned earlier? I have added it to my collection.
