Good question! In tango although the character and steps are sharp and staccato in nature, the body does not freeze. Usually the first step afer a promenade ending figure would be a slow, the dancer should be using body movement to continue with the flow, the dancers should be compressing further into the already flexed supporting leg to create more energy and movement coming out of the premenade figure. If this is done properly then a dancer will not feel that there is a long break on the slow.
