It is far better to count the Jive in a way which can be counted all the way through the dances. A Fallaway Rock followed by a Chasse to the left and back to the right 1 2 345 678. which is Q Q. Q and Q Q and Q. An American Spin the same count. If you follow Walter Laird's IDTA book you wont go far wrong. Remember . When that music is playing that 1 2 and you are using the Fallaway Rock as an entry to a movement just be sure it is with the music which is written four beats to a bar and is eight bar phrased.
