I Really Need To Get A Grip (Dance Shoes)

I have a really great pair of shoes but when I start to sweat my shoes get slippery and my turns are suffering because I'm slipping out of my shoes.

Can anyone tell me how to get a grip on my feet onto my shoes?

Have you tried putting a little baby powder on your feet before dancing? That should help keep your feet a bit drier...

Glue suede to the inside of your shoes, so that it grips instead of slips like regular leather, or the gold stuff Elegance shoes use. Also, they might be a little too big if it's the heel sliding around. At Target, they make sticky foam heel inserts to help.

Also, you can purchase 1/2 ball pads that have a sticky adhesive side to place inside the front inside bottom of your shoe. They helped me significantly. Later, I found ladies at my workplace that use them in their everyday heels to stop their feet from sliding forward while generally walking. Check with your local shoe repair shop, shoe retailer, or go to a competition where there is a shoe vendor (they normally will have the accessories for the shoes) or check the web i.e., champion shoes or world tone...or google the question.

I agree with Diva, your shoes might be too big if your feet come out of them. What kind of shoes are they? If they are latin, then I suggest doing the straps up really tight. The best latin shoes have the strap criss-cross across the top of the foot rather than just go around the ankle. If they are standard shoes with no straps, you can buy thick elastic bands that go around the foot and shoe and hold the foot in place really well.

Why not wrap some cellertape around the shoe and the instep. Nobody will see it and is often used.

I've got the suede, got the ball of foot cushions, the shoes are not professional but they were approved my my instructor(they are Michell D's from Dillards) The size is perfect. I haven't been wearing hose so I'm doing that tonight.

I'll try the tape and heel inserts if this doesn't work.

Thanks,
Lauren F.
