Web Programmer for Android Needed

Greetings, dancers!

I am looking for someone to help us with our mobile website. It's not an app; It's simply a set of html pages formatted for mobile phones. However, I'm having difficulty creating a page that will play embedded MP4 video natively on the Android platform without requiring the user to install additional software.

The Android phones I've used for testing have all been able to play the MP4 file itself via direct linking, but they will not play the video once it has been embedded in a web page. I have tried using HTML 3 (objet/embed), HTML 4, and Flash containers. Nothing seems to work.

If you have knowledge of web programming and can create a page with file listed below embedded in a way that can play on all Android phones (2.0 and later), please let us know!

Thanks!

Regards,
Jonathan Atkinson

The default android browser does not play videos, but will instead hand off a suitably formatted URL to the on-board video player application to show in a new window.

An android application can do half-screen video, such as the top half of a portrait display, and put a text (or presumably html) view below it.

I can't afford a programmer for a full fledged app right now, so I may just have to wait until Android supports HTML5 video.

I did read about Opera for Android, which supposedly does both HTML5 video and Flash. Do you have Opera on your Android phone, and would you be willing to check it for me? (Our mobile site uses HTML5, and the full website uses a Flash-based player).

If Opera works, I'll just suggest that as an intermediate solution for our users until the native Android browser supports either embedded Flash or the HTML5 video tag.

Regards,
Jonathan
