Rumba Natural Top foot position

Can I ask for help resolving an argument about the lady's foot position during the natural top?
(International IDTA medal grades)
Currently we have:-
Lady's right foot rotates as if (sorry!) a nail was driven through the ball of her foot pinning it's centre of rotation.
Or
Lady's right foot circles say a 6 inch diameter tin can at the centre of the move.
(or perhaps her large toe rotates around an imaginary nail)

Any other suggestions welcome!

Hmmm, this on has not illicited a response, maybe I should try selling hardwood floors? - No nail holes though, maybe my description put a few people off.

It was a genuine question, I find it difficult if the lady has the ball of her foot as the centre of the top. I know in AT you do turn the lady on her axis in the carousel, but I think this is a totally different step in both look and feel.

This has nothing really in common with a calesita in tango. The key is that the lady is taking nine forward walks.

Both man & lady are both moving around a point that is between them, so your second suggestion is far nearer the desired position. Your alternative would be quite wrong.

It will depend on the couple, but I'd suggest that the 'tin can' is up to twice the size you suggest.

Many thanks, your way is the way I have been doing it for forty years, so I was a bit shocked when I was told I was doing it wrong and the lady should keep the ball of her foot on a fixed spot on the floor at the centre of the turn.
I shall buy a larger tin!

This variation came out of American style Rumba/Bolero.. its name..

" Spot " turn aint alliteration great !.

The American style latin was always more descriptive, and the English Soc. when adapting the SAME variations, in their wisdom (?), changed the names, in many cases .

( Crossover break.. New Yorker for e.g. )..
