Hi, next month I have a showcase at my school and I've chosen to do a tango but I cannot find a nice song. I'd like to avoid argentine tango music, though suitable. Any suggestion?

P.S. sorry for my poor english, but I'm italian!

Your English is wonderful...much better than my Italian.

Do you have a particular mood you are looking for with the music?

Well, though I do social style my teacher likes to add some international in our coreographies since, he says, I'm good, so I would love some music that has strong "staccatos". Does it make any sense?
Moreover, I'm not looking for a very sensual mood in my tango, I'd love something very intense and a pretty fast song.

You could do a lot worse than Sombra (or sometimes Sombras) by the Percy Faith Orchestra. Available on the usual download sites. It's been around for ever (and is mono), but it has all the qualities you seek in generous measure.

Whenever I use it in class, the students get into tango mode in seconds!

These maybe completely unsuitable but they are both Staccato as hell...

The Assassin's Tango...(starts slowly)
Cell Block Tango....

They get done to death in America because they are fast and sharp and a little bit theatrical. I hope that helps.

Thank you for your suggestions!
At the moment the options I have are "la hada y el gordo" and "il tango delle rose" both from the selection of this site.
I'll let my teacher/partner pick, since he's so into standard dances!

If you're looking for something different:

Esther Ofarim - Mad About the Boy
