Quickest way to brush up on skills?

I use to dance a little back in highschool but never got too serious about it. The other day my dancing came up in a conversation and I remembered how much fun it was to go to amatuer competitons. I looked online and found a competition to enter so now I need to brush up on my skills and find a partner who is willing to compete with me. The competition is every month so I'm not in a huge rush but the sooner I get back on track the better . Any advice on how to brush up on my dancing a little faster would be greatly appreciated.

Practice as much as you can and take lessons.

If competition is your goal, then find an independent studio that coaches competitive couples. Find a partner and take private lessons. There are no short cuts in dance. Lessons and practice are the only ways to succeed.

Go to the competition even if you aren't ready. You will have a much better idea of what is really important after you have gone, than if you just stay in the studio training or let people guesstimate your prospects.

Hint: the fewer figures you plan on using, the faster you will be ready.
