What is the difference between an Under Arm Turn (she turns Rt) and an Alemana?

Delightfuldance. We well tell you any way. On the Under Arm Turn like the Spot Turn to the ladies right, the right foot retains its position. On an Alamana , like walking around a small plate the right foot passes close to the left foot. An Alamana is always turning to the right and the arm lines are different. An Under Arm Turn can be to either side.
Having said that we often see a Alamana Type action on a Spot Turn.

The U/Arm turn L and R is an American style figure based upon the authentic cuban style used in Son and Guaracha.

Most of what is danced in Intern.style, are embellishments on the authentic figures danced by Cubans ( not ALL figures danced/taught are of Cuban origin ) .
