Progressive Cross Triples
10. Progressive Cross Triples Fact Sheet
The Progressive Cross Triple is a series of three lock steps forward or backward, to the counts 4&1, 2&3, 4&1. It can be taken in closed or open facing position with a one- or two-hand hold. Since man and lady are facing each other, the lady takes her lock steps backward while the man takes his forward, and vice versa. In the syllabus the three locks are taken once in each direction and alternated with rock steps, which serve to change the direction. The combination is therefore: 1. LF forward rock The lady's part is the natural opposite, starting with a RF back rock. Although they are shown danced consecutively in the man's and lady's charts, each set of 3 lock steps can be taken individually and combined with other figures. In any figure where man and lady are facing each other and dancing a single lock step (e.g. Progressive Basic), the single lock step can be replaced by three locks (i.e. a Progressive Cross Triple). For examples of short combinations involving isolated Progressive Cross Triples, refer to the precedes and follows tabs above.
