22. Wing

A Wing is a transitional movement, typically consisting of three steps taken over one measure of music, ending with the lady outside partner on man's left side. The most basic Wing in Waltz begins in promenade position, with the man dancing a type of forward hesitation while leading the lady to take three forward steps in a small semi-circle, passing from his right to his left side.

The Wing can be followed by any reverse figure commencing with the man's left foot forward. The first step of the following figure will be taken with man outside partner on lady's left side.
